The board will outlast most of what surrounds it if it is fitted that way. Owners who prefer a warmer, lighter board usually compare it against steel siding replacement, which trades the cement body for a metal one and behaves very differently under hail.

It is the James Hardie formulation for freeze and thaw regions, with different moisture resistance from the HZ10 board sold in hot dry climates. In Minnesota it matters a great deal, and it is what we install.
Is fiber cement heavy enough to need extra structure?
No. It is heavier than vinyl and needs more hands to hang, but it sits well within what standard residential framing carries. The weight affects the labor, not the structure.
How often will it need repainting?
