Untreated cedar burns. We fit pressure-impregnated fire-retardant shakes where the code, the site or the insurer calls for it, and those carry a Class B or Class A rating depending on the assembly.
How long will cedar last here?
Thirty years or more when it is ventilated and maintained, and considerably less when it is not. Ventilation is the single biggest factor, which is why we will not install cedar directly onto a solid deck.
