Professional Prefabricated Buildings in Jordan, MN
There are two very different places to put a building in Jordan, and the difference is about 150 feet of elevation. Downtown sits on the Sand Creek valley floor near 770 feet, with short blocks and the historic district close by. The east side stands near 920 feet with room to work and wind to design for. A delivered kit suits one of those far better than the other.

Downtown is tight, the bluff top is not
Down on the valley floor the constraint is room. The blocks around the Jordan Historic District were laid out long before anything arrived on a lowboy, so a semi with forty foot bundles and a crane with outriggers down need a plan, and sometimes a street closure. Appearance matters there too. Fourteen contributing buildings of local buff brick, most of them built between 1865 and 1880, set the tone, and a bare white steel wall next to that reads badly whether or not the code says anything about it. Up on the east side at roughly 920 feet, the sites are open, the approach is straightforward and the frame just needs to be sized for wind the old core never sees. Where the look has to work harder, we also build custom metal and steel buildings, and on a downtown lot that is often the honest recommendation.

Prefabricated Buildings in Jordan
What a Jordan build turns on
Unloading planned for downtown streets
On the valley floor there is no yard to drop steel in. We sequence loads so each one is set where it is needed, and coordinate with the city if a lane has to be held for the crane.
A masonry base on the street side
Next to the buff brick along the historic core, a block or brick wainscot under the panel line does more for how a metal building sits in the street than any color choice.
Condensation controlled in a steel shell
An uninsulated steel roof sweats in a Minnesota winter and rains on whatever is stored below. Vapor barrier, insulation and vented ridge details are specified at the order, not added later.
Endwall ready for a future bay
On the open lots east of town there is land to grow into. If the endwall is framed as an expansion wall at the start, adding bays later is a matter of unbolting panels, not rebuilding.
A frame sized to a narrow lot
Downtown parcels are narrow and deep. Standard bay spacing can be adjusted so the building uses the whole lot without eating the side yard, which is usually what makes a downtown site work at all.
Snow guards over a public walk
A metal roof lets a season of snow go at once. Downtown, where the wall meets a sidewalk, snow guards and a planned discharge point are not optional details.
Why owners in Jordan call us
We talk to the city first
Before drawings go far, we find out what the review will ask for on your block, including anything tied to the historic district. It is cheaper to ask than to redraw.
Trade offs put in writing
You get a straight comparison: what a delivered kit does well on your site and where a conventionally framed building would do better. Then you decide.
We build around your operation
Most of these buildings go up next to a business that still has to run. We stage the pour, the delivery and the erection so your yard is not blocked for weeks.
Roofing people, not just erectors
We spend most of our year on roofs, including commercial low slope work. That shows up in how the eaves, the ridge and the flashing on a metal building get detailed.
We quote what you need
It is easy to sell a bigger frame. We would rather quote the building that fits your work now and frame it so a later addition is simple.

Common questions in Jordan
What people in Jordan ask us about this work. If yours is not covered, call and ask.
Can a metal prefabricated building go up near the Jordan Historic District?
It depends on the block and what the review says. The district covers fourteen contributing buff brick buildings from between 1865 and 1880, and anything built beside them gets looked at for how it fits. A prefabricated frame can be dressed to sit well there, with a masonry base and quieter colors, but we check with the city before drawing.
How do you get a crane onto a tight downtown Jordan lot?
Carefully, and with the city's blessing when a lane has to be held. We look at where the crane can set outriggers on solid ground, how far it has to reach over the building line and whether the load comes in one delivery or three. On some downtown lots the honest answer is that a conventional build is easier.
Is a bluff top site east of town easier to build on?
Usually, yes. The east side stands near 920 feet with open lots, straight approaches and space to stage steel, which is most of what makes a kit go quickly. The trade is exposure. Those roofs take wind the valley floor never sees, so the frame and the fasteners are specified for it.
