Why does the ceiling in my old Jordan house stain along the outside wall every winter?
That is the ice dam pattern. The old core was built without soffit intake, so heat collects at the eave, melt refreezes over the cold overhang, and water backs up under the shingles into the ceiling edge. Patching the plaster fixes the stain, not the cause. The venting and the eave detail have to change.
