Steel belongs on the frame, not the brick
The old part of town is cream colored Chaska brick, 1860 to 1920, steep simple gables and narrow eaves. Those masonry walls are not siding candidates and we will tell you that on the first visit. What steel does well here is the framed work around the brick: gable ends, dormer cheeks, additions, porch skirts and the later houses that went up around them. Narrow eaves mean the wall gets wet, so the detail that decides the job is where panel meets masonry. Counterflashing has to be cut in and sealed properly, not surface caulked against a soft old brick face, and the head flashing over every window has to shed outward. Can I put steel siding on a house in the Walnut Street Historic District?
Ask the city before you order anything. The district was listed on the National Register in January 1980 and covers about 17 acres, and what a listing allows and what a local ordinance allows are two different questions. On most of those houses the brick should stay brick anyway, and steel belongs only on framed additions.
