Water travels before it shows on a wall

A valley over a bump out sheds onto a lower plane, the shingle repair happens up top, and the drywall damage is on the second floor ceiling and then again down a stairwell wall. We probe with a meter before we cut, so the opening is where the wet is rather than where the paint bubbled.
