The first is that west wind coming up the valley, which means heavier bracing, tighter fastener spacing on the wall panel and real attention to where the large door faces. A roll up door on the windward wall is a hole waiting to happen. The second is the ground itself. Lots at the north edge fall away toward the river, and the Savage Fen sits below that bluff, a rare calcareous fen fed by calcium rich groundwater, so grading, fill and stormwater get looked at hard before anything is staked. Smaller storage needs are often better answered with prefabricated buildings, which arrive engineered and go up on a simpler slab.

Do I need a wetland review to build a shop in Savage?
It depends on where the parcel sits. The Savage Fen is a rare calcareous fen at the north edge of town, and anything draining toward it gets a careful look at grading and runoff.
