Will a new tile roof stop the ice dams on my Eyota house?
Probably not on its own. Ice dams form because heat gets into the attic and melts snow that refreezes at a cold eave, and those railroad era houses have almost no overhang to work with. Tile plus a wide ice barrier buys you protection, but the real fix is air sealing and insulation above the top plate.
