Amber Fields is going up on roughly 435 acres of former University of Minnesota UMore Park land southwest of Akron Avenue and County Road 42, with a build out planned over about eight years. That is where most prefabricated work in Rosemount is happening now: big parcels, clean access, farm soil. Under the topsoil there can be soft organic pockets, old field tile, and fill nobody logged. All of it comes out before a slab goes down. Above ground, the exposure is the other half. Is the soil out at Rosemount's UMore Park land suitable for a slab?
It was farmed for decades, so the top layer is organic and has to come off. Below that it varies: some areas are good granular material, others hide soft pockets or old fill. A few borings answer it. Where the soil is poor, the fix is removal and engineered fill, not a thicker slab.
